The story
Stadsjochies, at Rijndijk 14 in Utrecht, is a seasonal kitchen set in a renovated greenhouse, and Gault&Millau gave it a score of 13 in 2026. The restaurant is part of a working farm, so the menu follows what is ready to harvest on the same site.
The farm covers 1.6 hectares and grows around 140 crops across four methods: open field, an unheated greenhouse, a vertical farm for cresses, and a permaculture tea garden for tea herbs and edible flowers. Lunch is served as a seasonal multi-course meal, and guests choose how many courses they want. Wednesday evenings bring an open dinner with a tour of the greenhouses.
Merel Korfage, who joined the kitchen in November 2024, works the garde-manner station and focuses on appetisers and cold dishes. Her favourites are the florets and cresses picked from the land, which she describes as flavour bombs. She suggests tasting each product on its own before combining them.
The restaurant opened in August 2021 in a former greenhouse that was renovated for guests. Tables sit among plants, and the tea garden hosts borrel arrangements surrounded by herbs and vegetables. The kitchen composts its scraps with bokashi and avoids chemical pesticides, and the Smart Green Guide awarded it 3 Radishes in 2026.
