The story
Cottontree City by Dimitri is a French bistro at Lange Voorhout 98, 2514EJ Den Haag, in The Hague. Gault&Millau gave the kitchen 13 out of 20 in 2026, and owner-chef Dimitri Heinrichs cooks the menu himself.
Heinrichs cooks French dishes with fresh daily ingredients and seasonal produce, often from nearby producers. There is no traditional starter, main and dessert structure. Each à la carte dish costs €21, and a three-course menu is €52, with four and five course options at €59 and €66. The Lekker500 guide included the restaurant in its Top 500 for 2026 and called the three-course menu exceptionally well priced.
Crispy fried sweetbread arrives with veal cheek, pumpkin, pumpkin seeds and veal jus. The hamachi tartare comes with polenta, radish and sweet pepper, and the steak tartare is prepared at the table with fries. Dessert includes a warm chocolate cake with blackberry ice cream and a classic Crêpes Suzette with Grand Marnier and vanilla ice cream for €17.
Fire-red plush benches and small tables give the dining room a Parisian feel, and the covered terrace faces the car-free Voorhout. Manon Heinrichs runs the floor, and sommelier Ronald Lindeboom selects the wine list, which leans toward French and European bottles and offers many by the glass. Guests who skip alcohol have only one non-alcoholic cocktail to choose from.
