The story
Lime serves modern cuisine at Kerkplein 2 in Malden, a village just outside Nijmegen, and Gault&Millau awarded it 13.5 in 2026. The restaurant sits on the market square and runs a casual fine dining format with a partly open kitchen.
Chef-owner Ysbrandt Wermenbol builds the menu around what is in season, with vegetables and herbs from the organic garden at Kiemkracht64. Guests can compose their own menu from the dishes on offer, choosing four to seven courses, with amuses and friandises included. North Sea fish turns up often, and the kitchen draws on Asian and Mediterranean influences.
Reviewers single out the pasta with poached lobster in a chamomile and Parmesan beurre blanc, which one called stunningly good. A 2026 review also praised wild halibut with langoustine and wild garlic in a foamy sauce. Dessert tends toward the inventive, though a classic tarte tatin with spiced caramel and vanilla ice cream has also appeared on the menu.
The dining room is warm and trendy, with lemons and fresh flowers on the tables. Lekker500 included Lime in its Top 500 for 2026. The wine list leans European, and a matching wine is typically offered alongside each dish.
