The story
Allemansgeest in Leiden is a French restaurant at Hofweg 55, Voorschoten, where a historic farmhouse on the Vliet serves modern French cooking. Gault&Millau awarded it 12 points in 2026.
The kitchen draws on both traditional and modern French influences. Guests can choose the à la carte menu or a Chef's Menu that changes with the seasons, served in two, three or four courses. Vegetarian versions are available, and the team works with regional, seasonal ingredients. Executive chef Tom Vonk leads the kitchen, according to the 2025 Lekker500 Top 500 entry.
Reviewers have singled out goose foie gras in three preparations, served with brioche and red wine jus. A sea bass fillet comes with crispy toast, rouille and bouillabaisse. Earlier in the meal, hamachi with green gazpacho and tomato sorbet is bright and clean. Dessert might be strawberry, rhubarb, elderflower and basil sorbet, which Lekker500 found refreshing in its 2026 Top 500 listing.
The dining room has a herringbone parquet floor, linen-dressed tables and comfortable armchairs. Beyond the main room are a conservatory, a garden room, and a garden house with its own terrace. A historic upper room works as a private dining space. On summer days, guests can moor a boat at the private pier. The venue is an officially licensed wedding location and has its own free parking.
