The story
't Pakhuus is a seafood-led French and international restaurant at Haven 8 in Oudeschild, listed under Den Helder, and it holds 14 points from Gault&Millau for 2026. The kitchen is run by chef-owner Boy Schuiling, and the dining room looks over the harbor where the fishing boats come in.
The building dates from 1902 and once served as a grain warehouse for the mill on the dike. Boy Schuiling and his partner Felicia Siebert have run it as a restaurant since 2015. There are 55 seats, and in summer the front terrace faces the harbor, the Wadden Sea, fishing boats and sightseeing vessels. A light conservatory and a rustic interior with wooden tables give you other places to sit. A lobster tank has long stood inside.
Fish is the stated specialty, much of it from the North Sea and Wadden Sea. Reviewers describe Wadden oysters, lobster bisque with sea asparagus, and whole fried turbot or sole served with fresh fries. Saturday evenings are limited to the set menus or a fruits de mer platter. Texel lamb appears in season, and the kitchen will build a multi-course vegetarian dinner.
Several wines are poured by the glass, and the list leans toward the Old World. The restaurant has also appeared in the Lekker500 Top 500 every year from 2019 to 2026, and the 2026 edition singled out the harbor view and the owner-chef's way with fish.
