The story
Wolf Atelier at Westerdoksplein 20 in Amsterdam serves modern French and international cooking, and has been listed in Gault&Millau with 14 points in 2026. It sits in a monumental railway bridge over the IJ, five minutes on foot from Central Station.
Michael Wolf, originally from Austria, is owner and chef. The Lekker500 guide, which has listed the restaurant every year from 2019 through 2026, describes his style as light and modern, with experimentation that stays short of eccentric. The open kitchen sits in the middle of the dining room, with bar seating around it.
The fixed collection offers four or five courses, and a fully vegetarian version follows the same format. Current dishes include hamachi with leche de tigre and jalapeño, sea bass with bouillabaisse and fennel, and polder chicken with albufera and parsnip. The 15-course Atelier menu runs from cauliflower with truffle to A5 wagyu, Époisses and a vanilla French toast to finish.
Eighty tall glass windows look out over the IJ. The interior is industrial, with leather sofas and grey upholstered chairs. The wine list mixes Old and New World bottles and includes a good selection from Wolf's native Austria. Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday, and lunch on Saturdays.
