The story
Pianeta Terra serves creative Italian cooking at Beulingstraat 7 in Amsterdam, and Gault&Millau rated it 12 in 2026. The restaurant sits in a former horse stable on a quiet side street off the Singel.
When Pianeta Terra opened in 2000, the team decided to cook only with organic, natural and sustainable produce. Chef Fabio Antonini describes his approach as intuition and feeling for the raw product, with modern technique used to express a flavour rather than invent one. He is an ambassador of the Slow Food Alliance network of chefs, and the kitchen buys daily from small local suppliers, Slow Food Presidia and the Ark of Taste.
The menu changes from day to day and is built around travels and cultures encountered. Recent dishes include tortelli with "Cappello del Prete" pumpkin, cod aged in chickpea miso, and a mandarin meringue tartelette. Guests also single out the spaghetti alla chitarra with clams and a slow-cooked pork neck, served in menus of five or seven courses. Gambero Rosso awarded the kitchen three forks in 2023.
Laura Martini is the sommelier, and the cellar leans toward natural producers. Rocco di Carpeneto in Alto Monferrato is one, working only with native grapes such as barbera, dolcetto and nebbiolo. Guests often describe the room as warm and homely, with attentive service from the family team.
