The story
Jaspers, at Ceintuurbaan 196, 1072 GC Amsterdam, serves a French kitchen in De Pijp, and Gault&Millau awarded it 14 points in 2026. The restaurant is named after owner-chef Jasper Videler, who cooks the menu from an open kitchen at the back of the room.
Videler trained at La Rive, Inter Scaldes, Beluga and Chocolat before opening his own restaurant in 2011. His foundation is classical, and it shows in the pommes duchesse and beurre blanc served with main courses. Elsewhere his cooking is lighter and more modern, with occasional Eastern touches in the seasoning.
The menu runs from three to seven courses, and the three-course option is priced at 51 euros. Past dishes have included steak tartare with smoked eel broth and lamb shoulder with porcini. Tables face the open kitchen, and large still lifes added after the 2016 renovation nod to the Dutch masters. A private dining section suits family gatherings and business dinners.
