The story
Cômo is an Italian restaurant at 19 rue des Remparts in Esch-sur-Alzette, where chef Renato Favaro cooks the food of his native Lake Como. Gault&Millau gave it a score of 14 in 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as recommended for the same year.
Favaro previously ran Ristorante Favaro, after a career shaped by starred gastronomy. Cômo is his return to the flavours of the Lake Como shores, run alongside Bianca, Daniel and Evie. The kitchen's motto is the Italian saying basta poco, ma buono: the product, precision and taste, with service given the same attention as the plate.
Gault&Millau singles out the vitello tonnato for its delicate flavour and careful presentation. The chef's signature is pizzocheri della Valtellina, buckwheat pasta with potatoes, Swiss chard, and Bitto and Casera cheeses. The inspectors call it rustic but irresistible. Across the menu, the cooking leans on generous family recipes, simple on the surface and built on long-learned technique.
The building has a striking façade on the street. Inside, the old thick carpets and panelled walls have given way to three connected salons in modern greys and blacks, lit with plenty of light. A single antique Tuscan cabinet remains from the earlier decor.
