The story
Daigo serves vegetarian shojin cuisine in kaiseki form at 2F, Forest Tower, 2-3-1 Atago, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The Michelin Guide awarded it One Star for 2026, citing high quality cooking.
The restaurant opened in 1950 in a Sukiya-style building at the foot of Mount Atago. The current head of the house is Yusuke Nomura, the fourth generation of the family to run it. Each morning the kitchen receives seasonal ingredients from the Toyosu produce market and growers across Japan. The Green Guide awarded Daigo four radishes for 2026.
The menu follows the order of a kaiseki meal, from a pre-meal sake and a small sampler to rice, a clear soup and a sweet course. Three dinner courses are priced from 26,000 to 34,000 yen including tax, and a daytime lunch course is 17,800 yen. A few dishes use a little katsuobushi and egg. Guests who want no animal ingredients can ask the day before.
Daigo has eight private rooms for groups of two to 58 guests, and rooms for 30 or more have tatami floors. Windows look onto a Japanese garden, and a faint trace of incense sits in the air. The room layouts suit both small dinners and larger private parties.
