The story
capi is an Italian restaurant at 6F, 1-10-2 Sonezakishinchi, Kita-ku, Osaka, and it holds one Michelin Star for 2026, cited for high quality cooking.
Ogawa trained at Lamrena in Kyomachibori and at Ponte Vecchio. He then ran the kitchen of an Italian restaurant in Osaka. In 2012 he opened his own place, IL CHIARO, in Takatsuki. In 2021 he renamed it capi and moved it to Kitashinchi, where it has stayed.
The kitchen describes its approach as "ingredient times ingredient." Each element is handled with care to draw out its natural beauty. Then the elements are set against one another so they resonate within a single dish. The stated goal is a taste that goes beyond memory. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 15 points in 2026.
Dining is built around a single seasonal course, from ¥26,000, with the price moving alongside the ingredients. A 10% service charge is added. The room seats guests at a counter, and the evening kitchen starts the food for everyone at once, at 18:00 or 20:45. Guests should mention allergies when booking, since dishes cannot be changed on the day.
