The story
agnel d'or is a French restaurant in Osaka at 2-4-4 Nishihommachi, Nishi-ku, where the kitchen holds a Michelin one star (2026). The restaurant occupies the first floor of a building a four-minute walk from Awaza Station exit 1 on the Chuo Line.
Akinari Fujita was born in Osaka in 1981. He trained at several French restaurants in the city before working under Chef Kako at a restaurant in Kobe. He then spent about four and a half years in France, in Normandy, the Basque Country and Lyon, and finished as chef at the Lyon neo-bistro Arcanje. He opened agnel d'or in August 2013, after returning to Japan.
The restaurant takes its name from a medieval French sheep gold coin, a symbol of peace and prosperity, and the kitchen aims to build a Japanese gastronomy on French technique. Lunch is a set course of about six or eight dishes, and dinner is a longer progression of about ten. Gault&Millau awarded the kitchen 15.5 points in 2026.
