The story
Verso Capitaneo serves Mediterranean cooking at piazza del Duomo 21 in Milan, and the Michelin Guide gave it two stars in 2026 for excellent cooking. The kitchen belongs to brothers Remo and Mario Capitaneo.
The brothers come from Puglia and trained under Carlo Cracco and Andrea Berton. They later became Enrico Bartolini's deputies before opening in the square beside the cathedral. Southern roots stay in the food through plenty of native ingredients. 50 Top Italy lists the restaurant among its Grandi Ristoranti, at number 22 in 2026.
The menu follows fresh seasonal produce, worked with modern techniques that sharpen flavor without piling on extras. Dishes include lobster with almond cream and dandelion, and veal sweetbread with sea urchin and coffee béarnaise. Fusilloni arrive with Comté, whisky and caviar. The tasting menu costs 220 euros per guest and is served to the whole table. Two extra courses raise it to 270.
Verso has three chef's tables and three traditional tables. At the counter, guests can talk with the cooks and the dining room team as the courses unfold. Marco Matta and Valeria Biancini curate the wine pairing, priced at 140 to 160 euros. The list runs deep in Champagne and Burgundy, with Krug, Dom Pérignon and a long row of Montrachet.
