The story
Alelí in Budapest is an Italian osteria at Wekerle Sándor utca 3, inside the Dorothea Hotel, and Gault&Millau gave it a score of 15 in 2026. The restaurant draws on recipes and inspiration from Dani García, and its kitchen cooks Italian food with a Mediterranean slant.
Giorgio Cavicchiolo runs the kitchen as head chef. He arrived from one of the country's finest Italian restaurants, and Gault&Millau describes the room as a fine trattoria, with familiar Italian flavours cooked to a high standard. Ingredients from Italy include Parma salami and Bolognese cheeses, alongside select local products.
Neapolitan pizzas use dough proofed for 48 hours, and a glass partition gives a view of the oven. The focaccia carries the chef's signature, and the Lángos Montanara blends Italian and Hungarian traditions. The menu travels through Piedmont, Lombardy, Lazio, Campania and Sicily, with tableside preparations adding to the room's energy.
