The story
La Boucherie, at Hauptstraße 18 in Kreuzwertheim near Wertheim, is a contemporary French restaurant that holds one Michelin star (2026). It operates inside a family-run country inn on the Main River, where the menu draws on French technique and the chef's butcher-shop roots.
Daniel Schröder runs the kitchen after cooking at Kuno 1408 in Würzburg. Dinner is a five or six course tasting menu, and a seven-part carte blanche option leaves the selection to the kitchen. Franconian classics also appear in the main dining room.
Dishes include gold trout with radishes and tarragon, and celery served with Granny Smith apple and pecans. Black-feathered chicken with leek, pearl onions and sherry is a main course. The dining room is understated, with a blue colour scheme, wooden tables and upholstered chairs. Wine pairings come from a national and international selection, with recommendations from Elias Plömpel.
