The story
Gourmetfabrik at Werderstraße 74B in Schwerin is a seasonal international kitchen on the harbour, and it earned a Michelin Recommended mention in 2026. The restaurant sits between the old town and Lake Schwerin, close to the castle.
Large parts of the menu change roughly every three months, so the card rarely repeats itself. The kitchen buys from regional producers whom the team meets in person, and those conversations often spark new dishes. Classic recipes return in a modern reading, with tradition and contemporary technique kept side by side.
The sharing plates include burrata with tomato sugo, ceviche served with corn tortillas, and oysters prepared several ways at 4,50 € each. A main might be the fish of the day, served with turnip, confit potatoes and a parsley butter jus, or a beef roast with herb mash and oven carrots. Crème brûlée with spiced sugar and a chocolate dessert close the meal. On weekday lunches, a business lunch of starter, main and dessert is offered for 21,00 €.
The dining room faces the harbour, and in summer the terrace looks out over the lake and the castle. The Schlemmer Atlas gave the restaurant 1,5 Kochlöffel in 2026, describing evening menus, business lunches, catering and cooking classes all under one roof. The cooking classes themselves run as themed evenings, from vegan and vegetarian cooking to a meat masterclass.
