The story
Strandrestaurant Riffkieker, at Am Januskopf 9 in Norderney, is a North German restaurant that holds one Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026. The beachfront house cooks with the North Sea catch, with a menu built around fish and shellfish from the coast.
The North German kitchen here starts with the water. Flounder comes pan-fried with melted butter, boiled potatoes and salad. A fish platter combines several North Sea fish with mussels, prawns, hollandaise and herb butter. Vegetarian guests can order house-made hummus, avocado cream or a vegan chocolate mousse made in the kitchen.
The room is arranged around the view. Guests can sit in the glass pavilion with panoramic windows or on the terrace directly on the sand. Breakfast is served until early afternoon, with a Norderney prawn breakfast among the heartier options.
