The story
Oktopussy, at Luisenstraße 13 on Norderney, is a contemporary German restaurant listed as Michelin Recommended in 2026. It belongs to Hotel New Wave and seats 80 guests.
The kitchen works mostly with regional and seasonal products, adding a few Fairtrade ingredients from further afield. Octopus appears twice on the menu: sous vide with aioli, olives and house bread, or as a starter in several textures, including a tatar and a citrus-garlic mousse. Cod comes wrapped in Norderney sea-air ham, and the classics include beef tafelspitz in its own broth. Vegetarians can choose the ramen "Oktopussy Style" with kombu-shiitake broth, or a sauerkraut potato rösti with East Frisian blue cheese.
The Schlemmer Atlas gave Oktopussy 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and describes a casual, coastal dining room painted in blue and yellow. It has panoramic windows, stylish lamps and a long bar, and the beach is two blocks away. There is outdoor seating, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
Breakfast is a buffet served daily, with hot drinks included. Dinner runs Wednesday to Sunday. The wine list is meant to follow the dishes, and the team will advise if you ask. Among the desserts are a champagne zabaglione with plum sorbet and a marbled white and dark chocolate mousse with tonka-ruby ice cream.
