The story
Altes Rathaus serves traditional Franconian cooking at Marktplatz 1 in Lauf an der Pegnitz, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The restaurant occupies the historic walls of Lauf's former town hall, which gives the dining rooms a snug, rustic feel. May-Britt Weißgerber has run the house for some time. Her aim is to keep Franconian tradition alive at the table. When the weather allows, guests can also sit in the beer garden.
The Schlemmer Atlas singles out the well-prepared Schäufele and Schnitzel. The menu of traditional German cuisine also lists Rehrücken (saddle of venison) and Schweinelendchen (pork tenderloin). Pasta with fresh chanterelles adds a lighter option. A separate Pilzkarte, a mushroom menu, sits alongside the main card.
