The story
Jacobs Restaurant, at Elbchaussee 401 in Hamburg, is the French kitchen of the Louis C. Jacob hotel, and Der Feinschmecker rated it 3.5 in 2026. The menu blends French technique with a Hanseatic streak, served in a room that looks out over the Elbe.
Head chef Thomas Martin has led the kitchen since 1997, and his hand still shapes the menu. He works with seasonal ingredients and a contemporary approach, and the restaurant describes its produce as regional and, where possible, organic. Guests can choose a four- or six-course menu or order from the à la carte list.
Scottish salmon appears as a fillet and as a tartare with soy vinaigrette, beech mushrooms and celeriac. Torteloni filled with goat cheese and parmesan come with autumn truffles and hazelnuts. The French free-range duck, breast and leg, is served with pumpkin and shallots. Sommelier Mika Müller pairs these plates from a list of around 300 wines.
Grey and green tones dominate the interior, and large arched windows frame the Lindenterrasse and the water beyond. Stucco ceilings and four wall paintings from the historic 1895 ballroom remain part of the room. The dining room seats 74. Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 3,5 Kochlöffel in 2026, noting its chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows and view of the Elbe.
