The story
GRILL, at Neuer Jungfernstieg 9 in Hamburg, serves classic French cooking with a Hanseatic accent inside the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. Der Feinschmecker rated it 2.5 in 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for the same year.
Dinner can open with Irish, Gillardeau or Sylt oysters, a Büsum crab cocktail or a beef consommé. Mains include North Sea sole and grilled Atlantic lobster. The steak list runs from NY striploin and Chateaubriand to Australian Wagyu, all cooked at very high heat on an infrared grill. Everything is served à la carte.
Sole is filleted at the table, and steak tartare is prepared fresh in front of you. A newer seafood display of fish, oysters and shellfish sits in the dining room, and a seafood étagère is the usual start. Anton Reichert leads the kitchen.
Caucasian walnut, olive green, dove blue and a fireplace shape the main dining room. The Oval Salon is pastel, with a wall painting inspired by Hamburg's Feenteich. The rooms date to 1926 and Emil Fahrenkamp's design, now paired with contemporary art. The Martini bar sits at the center of the restaurant and pours classic martinis as an aperitif.
