The story
Restaurant Hohenstaufen, at Freihofstr. 64-66 in Göppingen, is a Swabian and French kitchen inside the hotel of the same name, and it holds 1.5 Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026.
The kitchen serves Swabian classics alongside grilled steaks. Guests staying overnight on a package receive a three-course menu, so the dining room also feeds the hotel's own guests. The listing carries a vegan tag as well, which gives plant-based diners something to ask about when they book.
The restaurant opened as the Gaststätte Hohenstaufen on 28 July 1877. The house has stayed in family hands since 1912, and it is now in its fifth generation under Thomas Heer and his wife Christin. The website names three dining areas: the MärklinBar, the Wintergarten and the Welfenstube.
