The story
Christian & Friends Tastekitchen at Nonnengasse 5 in Fulda serves modern cuisine with French and fusion influences. The restaurant earned one Michelin star for 2026, recognised for high quality cooking.
Head chef Christian Steska calls himself a kitchen magician, and he builds show elements into many plates. He plays with texture and temperature, so pumpkin soup arrives at the table in test tubes and potatoes sometimes appear as a foam. The Schlemmer Atlas rates the restaurant 3.5 Kochlöffel and highlights the personal exchange with Steska during the evening.
Guests choose between a four-course and a six-course evening menu. Recent dinner lists have included Störfilet with mandarin, celery and a spiced broth, which can be paired with a portion of Fulda caviar. Desserts lean playful: a raspberry course with pistachio, matcha tea and raspberry vinegar, and an olive and pecan nut ice cream with licorice root, pumpernickel and white chocolate.
The dining room is small and set up like a living room, with an open kitchen that guests can visit. The wine list holds more than 800 selections, from regional labels to international rarities, and includes Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Grace Family Vineyards bottles. Wine pairing and fine digestifs sit at the centre of the evening.
