The story
Bahnhöfle, at Bahnhofstraße 16 in Gundelfingen, is a French kitchen in the Freiburg area that the Schlemmer Atlas recognised with two Kochlöffel for 2026. The restaurant lists Classic French and Mediterranean cooking, and its menu moves between fish soup, oysters and veal.
The menu draws on French classics. Guests can order a Provençale fish soup, oysters, calf's tongue in Madeira sauce, veal chop in mustard sauce or sole meunière. The Schlemmer Atlas also names loup de mer, Rouladen and duck as dishes worth ordering.
The Schlemmer Atlas describes simple rooms, good food and a family-run setting by the station. In fine weather, meals are served outdoors under the open sky, and the terrace is the main draw when it's warm. Parking is available in front of the restaurant, and dogs are welcome.
Dessert options include mousse au chocolat, crème brûlée and tiramisu served with pistachio ice cream. Vegetarian dishes are available on request. Guests with allergies or intolerances are asked to speak with staff before ordering. Private events can also be held at the venue.
