The story
NAW - Restaurant Nah am Wasser stands at Leonhardstr. 2 in Braunschweig, where the kitchen reworks German classics for today. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1,5 Kochlöffel in 2026, and the restaurant sits directly on the banks of the Oker.
Dishes are built on German classics, reinterpreted with a focus on regional produce and the season. Everything is prepared fresh in house, without convenience products, so some plates take a little longer. A selection of vegan dishes runs alongside the menu, and the à la carte card changes regularly with the season and the market.
Inside, the dining room is calm and reduced. Outside, the restaurant opens onto the Oker from two jetties, and in summer the shady jetty is the place to sit. Homemade lemonades sit alongside a curated list of wines and drinks.
