The story
Restaurant Bareiss sits at Hermine-Bareiss-Weg 1 in Baiersbronn, where the French-rooted kitchen earned three Michelin stars in 2026. It operates within Hotel Bareiss in the Black Forest, and the menu blends French, German and Mediterranean cooking with regional ingredients.
Claus-Peter Lumpp has led the kitchen for 34 years. Der Feinschmecker describes his dishes as rich in aromatic depth and precision, and the guide awarded the restaurant 5 points in 2026. Guests choose from a lunch menu, three dinner menus including a vegetarian one, an à la carte selection, and a dessert and caviar menu.
The sources name a few dishes from the menu. The meal can open with foie gras, roasted corn and corn mousse, then move to langoustine with sweet chili and orange vinaigrette. The signature venison comes from the Bareiss estate hunt and is served with pepper reduction, ginger foam and pear chutney. Pastry chef Stefan Leitner finishes with blackberry, dark chocolate and wood sorrel sorbet.
The dining room was renovated into a modern-classic space with alabaster lamps, velvet seating and warm color tones. Sommelier Teoman Mezda curates a cellar of more than 1,000 labels, with a notable champagne selection. The grand praline and cheese carts, known as the Tölzer Kasladen, remain part of the experience.
