The story
Heiligenstein at Heiligensteinstraße 19a in Baden-Baden (Neuweier) is a family-run country inn with a Badische and Mediterranean kitchen, listed in the Michelin Guide in 2026. It sits in the vineyards of the Baden-Baden Rebland, at the foot of the Black Forest.
Chef Joachim Peter and his team cook a mix of regional and Mediterranean dishes. The Michelin Guide singles out the Neuweier trout fillet on wild garlic risotto and the veal saddle steak with morels and asparagus. Between them, the menu moves from Badische cooking to broader classic cuisine. Vegetarian choices are available, and an afternoon menu runs daily from 14 to 17 hours.
More than 400 regional and international wines fill the list, and the Michelin inspectors noted a few rarities among them. Guests can drink in the separate Weinstube or at the bar. The wine focus is one reason the Schlemmer Atlas awarded the house two Kochlöffel in 2026.
The dining room offers cozy alcove tables, and the Weinstube is set apart. A covered terrace is open in good weather, and it is a pleasant place to watch the sunset. The inn has been run by the Beck family for more than 30 years, and the second generation has helped manage it since 2015. The kitchen is closed on Thursdays.
