The story
Ebanat is a restaurant at Ebenunger Straße 23 in Sinzheim, in the small wine village of Ebenung about five kilometres from Baden-Baden. The seasonal Badische and international kitchen holds a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.
Regional produce sits at the centre of the menu. The restaurant raises its own Hochlandrinder, and the beef appears on the menu as a dry aged steak. Head chef Stefan Schmidt brings 24 years of experience, much of it in South Africa, where he cooked in the Cape Winelands at restaurants in Paarl, Cape Town and Stellenbosch. His German training began at Weingasthof Lamm in Oberkirch and continued at Colombi Hotel in Freiburg.
The Schlemmer Atlas awards Ebanat two Kochlöffel for 2026 and describes its refined cooking as shaped by a love for fish and wine. Guests often begin with a tasting in the cellar and vinothek before moving to the large terrace, where the valley opens out below. Vineyards, forests and small orchards surround the village.
