The story
Pierre Gagnaire is a contemporary French kitchen at 6 rue Balzac in Paris's 8th arrondissement, holding three Michelin stars for exceptional cuisine in 2026. The restaurant carries the name of its founder, and its menus are built on seasonal French produce.
The restaurant says its cooking starts with artisans, fishers, market gardeners, winegrowers and breeders who supply the kitchen each morning. The menu therefore follows what arrives that day rather than a fixed seasonal template. Diners can choose a tasting menu at lunch or dinner, with or without wine pairings.
The Balzac lunch menu includes a glass of champagne per person, a bottle selected by the sommelier, and water with hot drinks. The house also makes Gari, a wine developed with Rudy Ricciotti from Grenache vines near Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, and aged in concrete to keep the fruit pure.
