The story
Restaurant Le Clan is a Canadian restaurant at 44 Rue des Jardins in Québec, where the kitchen cooks Canadian cuisine built around regional ingredients. It received a Michelin Recommended mention in 2026. The menu draws on producers from the Îles-de-la-Madeleine to Charlevoix, so the seasonal plates trace back to specific farms, fishers and bakeries.
Chef Stéphane Modat's team names the artisans it works with on the restaurant's site. The sea-water bread is made with the Borderon bakery, and the smoked salmon comes from Oushata, which uses ancestral Wendat smoking techniques. Black garlic is grown on Île d'Orléans, and baby ginger arrives from Stoneham.
Menus rotate, and the one dated 4 May 2024 included scallops with wild garlic and clam, foie gras with chicoutai and cranberries, and Atlantic halibut with blackened apple. Rabbit with parsnip and wild game jus appeared alongside veal with Charlotte potatoes and cèpes. The dessert La Lune pairs buckwheat honey with beet and smoked black tea. The wine list earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2024, and the menus offer a wine pairing option.
