The story
Maison Boulud is the French restaurant inside The Ritz-Carlton at 1228 Sherbrooke West in Montréal, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. Daniel Boulud's namesake room reinterprets French classics with Quebec products.
Executive Chef Romain Valicon, originally from Lyon, trained under Paul Bocuse and became a Maître Cuisinier de France in 2022. Dishes come out of an open kitchen and lean on artisanal Quebecois producers. Guests can order à la carte, follow the seasonal daily menu, or hand the evening over to a five-course tasting menu. Brunch and a French-led breakfast also run alongside lunch and dinner.
The main dining room has light wood walls, a gas-burning fireplace and soft music, with the open kitchen in view. A year-round greenhouse looks onto the kitchen, and booths and a private room suit quieter conversation. In warmer months the terrace overlooks Sherbrooke Street. Ducks wander the wading pool in the outdoor dining area, which has become something of a local signature.
Pastry Chef Claude Guérin joined the hotel in 2014 and was named Best Pastry Chef in Canada by Canada's 100 Best in 2018. Forbes Travel Guide, which also lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026, singles out her Chocolate Coulant, served with liquid caramel, fleur de sel and caramelized milk ice cream.
