The story
Ferreira Café, at 1446 Rue Peel in Montréal, is a Portuguese seafood restaurant listed as Recommended in the Michelin Guide for 2026.
The house line is seafood that goes from the sea to your plate in 24 hours. The Ferreira shop lists a lagareiro octopus and a fish and seafood bouillabaisse. Homemade natas, the vanilla and egg tarts in puff pastry, are sold by the half dozen. The Portuguese cooking here is meant for sharing.
Wine Spectator gave the restaurant its Best of Award of Excellence in 2023, and the wine list and cocktails have a menu of their own. After 9pm, L'Après 9 offers a $55 table d'hôte. Groups can book the Rosa Room, which seats up to 20 inside the main restaurant. A separate private room takes 25 to 120 guests.
