The story
Brota is a vegan and vegetarian restaurant at Rua Conde de Irajá, 98, in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand for 2026, its mark for good quality cooking at good value, and the restaurant also holds two radishes in the We're Smart Green Guide for the same year.
Michelin describes the cooking as good quality and good value, a fitting description for a plant-based kitchen that serves both vegans and vegetarians. The We're Smart Green Guide gave it two radishes in 2026, a separate recognition from a different guide.
The room doubles as a gallery. The Tudo que Brota.Arte project invites artists to hang work in the salão, and its catalogues describe it as an initiative that brings art by women into the space. Painter and sculptor Daniela Corrêa Fortes and photographer Ana Quintella have both shown there, and the Água de Boca exhibition pairs artists Joana Uchôa, Laura Jost and Maria Flexa with the restaurant.
