The story
Au Petit Château is a classic French restaurant at Boulevard des Alliés 243 in Mouscron, Belgium, and Gault&Millau scored it 12.5 for 2026. The house has been cooking for more than 45 years, and its French kitchen still draws regulars and first-time visitors alike.
Chef Bertrand Jacquin leads the kitchen, mixing traditional French technique with newer ideas. The à la carte opens with truffled scrambled eggs and Norwegian salmon that the restaurant smokes in house. Breton lobster is grilled and served with chive butter and creamy risotto. Vegetarian and vegan guests are welcome, and the kitchen will adapt dishes if you mention your needs when booking.
The dining room is cosy and relaxed, with a subdued mood that suits both a long lunch and an evening out. Chantal, Isabelle, Fabrice and the team handle the floor with a warm, attentive pace. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026, and Gault&Millau praises its elegant setting and welcome. Outdoor seating is available in good weather.
The beef section keeps to French classics. Tournedos Rossini comes with seared foie gras and a Périgourdine sauce, and the filet is served with béarnaise or green peppercorn sauce. A grilled 350 g entrecôte is offered for sharing, with frites and salad on the side.
