The story
Le Faitout is a French brasserie at place de la Résistance 1 in Baudour, near Mons, and it received a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality, good value cooking. The Fernez family runs the restaurant, and the kitchen has the same generous, unfussy approach that its guide entries describe.
The Gault&Millau guide awarded Le Faitout 14 points for 2026. The room has an open kitchen and a wood fire, and Émilie Fernez keeps the family's standards in place. Bread is baked on site and can be taken home, and the fries are cut in the kitchen rather than served from a bag.
The Ardennes ham comes from the Buchet producer and is served with celeriac rémoulade. The pork chop is PQA-certified. The grey shrimp croquettes are made in house, as are many other items on the French menu. The kitchen tends to make things from scratch.
The dining rooms are air-conditioned, and there is a terrace and a seminar room for private events. The wine cellar is large enough to host dinners among friends. Almost the whole menu, except the grills, is available to take away, and three luxury hotel rooms sit directly opposite the restaurant.
