The story
OX’E serves classic French cooking at Dorp-West 89, 9080 Lochristi (Gent), and was listed as Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026.
The restaurant opened in 2018 with a plain aim: a place where people like to spend time. The kitchen works with local products and calls its approach skilled but unfussy. Gault&Millau rated it 12.5 in 2026 and singled out the pheasant fine champagne, served with celeriac purée and house-made croquettes. The card shifts with the market and the season.
Starters include Holstein beef tartare, shrimp croquettes and pan-fried sweetbread. Pomme Moscovite is sold by the 10, 30 or 50 gram portion. Among the mains are wild sea bass with olive oil, pan-fried sole, young chicken with tarragon sauce and a vol-au-vent. Côte à l’os from Berugi is served for two. A weekday lunch formula costs €38.
Oak tables, an open kitchen and dimmed lighting set the tone, with a bar at the centre of the house. The team of cooks, sommeliers and floor staff includes people who have been there since the start. Children get their own short menu, which says plenty about the welcome.
