The story
Lys d'Or, at Charles de Kerchovelaan 81 in Gent, is a Belgian-French restaurant that earned 14 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. Chef Ignace Wattenberge runs the kitchen in a mansion near the Citadelpark.
Wattenberge worked at leading Michelin-starred restaurants in Belgium and abroad before opening his own house. The restaurant says he was named First Chef of Belgium in 2017. Gault&Millau describes his plates as clear and restrained, letting the ingredients carry the dish.
The building is a renovated mansion in Ghent's art district, with high ceilings and a stately atmosphere. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026. Private dining is offered, and the website announces a new concept starting in early June.
