The story
The Thrill is a grill restaurant at Jaarbeurslaan 4 in Genk, recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026. The open grill hearth sits at the center of the dining room.
Rik Vandersanden runs the fire here, and Gault&Millau gave the kitchen 14 points in 2026. Its notes single out the beef selection and the way doneness is set to each guest's preference. The restaurant describes the crackle of the fire and the smell of grilled meat as part of every lunch and dinner.
The grill menu lists dry aged Rubia Gallega rib eye and AA Holsteiner tenderloin with a filled marrow bone and mushroom duxelles. A Holsteiner côte à l'os, roasted over fruitwood, is served for two. Starters include a carpaccio of Holstein tenderloin with foie gras and aubergine caviar.
Lobster has its own section, served as a half or whole animal. It comes à la nage, à l'armoricaine, or as a civet with carrots and ginger. Desserts run from a Dame Blanche to a chocolate moelleux with physalis.
The interior was refreshed in June 2023. Outside, the terrace sits under star-shaped tents, with pure-wood furniture and scaffold-wood accents that suit the grill's rugged character. Lunch has its own short "small menu" format.
