The story
VIDA is an international kitchen at Hagener Straße 231 in Dortmund, Germany, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 3 Kochlöffel for 2026. The restaurant sits in a residential district south of the city centre and pairs its food with a bar that stays open into the evening.
Michael Dyllong, a starred chef, developed the concept, and Fabian Heiermann runs the kitchen. The cooking moves between Mediterranean dishes, Asian flavours and hearty German home cooking. The menu changes with the season, and guests can choose between à la carte dishes and a set tasting menu.
The Feinschmecker guide singles out black cod with miso, pak choi and a yuzu-soy broth, and a steak tartare titled "From Paris to Seoul" served with kimchi. Other dishes include Skrei with mustard foam and salsify, and a Châteaubriand for two weighing 450 g. A vegetarian menu runs alongside the classic one.
Fabio Rizzo leads the bar, where the liquid kitchen produces cocktails such as an espresso martini made with vodka and parmesan espuma. The wine list offers around 120 selections. The room is design-forward, with a private dining room connected to the restaurant that seats up to 26 guests.
