The story
Restaurant Der Lennhof, at Menglinghauser Str. 20 in Dortmund, Germany, is a French kitchen with Westphalian roots. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026, and the restaurant is open for dinner most evenings with advance reservations recommended.
Chef Attila Karpati describes his approach as creative and up to date, but not distant. He builds the menu around regional farmers and seasonal ingredients, and he cares about how the team sources, cooks and serves each dish. He measures success by whether guests leave pleased.
The building dates to the 14th century and has been reinvented several times. The restaurant spreads across several levels of a traditional half-timbered hotel. Football is part of its story: BVB once owned the farm, and players and coaches were regular guests for many years.
