The story
Xiquet by Danny Lledó is a modern Spanish restaurant at 2404 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Washington, DC, holding a Michelin star (2026) for its Valencian tasting menu cooked over an open wood fire.
Chef and owner Danny Lledó builds the menu around Valencian traditions, with more than 20 compositions on the tasting menu. The kitchen runs on a wood-fire hearth, and guests catch the woodsmoke as they climb to the dining room. Rice dishes anchor the menu. A Michelin Guide review singled out an Alicante-style rice with rabbit and mushrooms cooked over the hearth.
Dinner is served on the airy third floor, and the second-floor mezzanine lounge hosts after-dinner drinks and sweet treats. The wine list is extensive but focused, and it earned Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence in 2023. Pairings suit a Mediterranean menu built on seafood and fresh produce.
