The story
Sons & Daughters, at 2875 18th Street in San Francisco, is a contemporary Scandinavian restaurant that earned two Michelin stars in 2026 for excellent cooking. The menu is a single tasting menu built on new Nordic ideas and seasonal produce from Northern California.
Executive chef and co-owner Harrison Cheney leads the team, with cooking experience in London, San Francisco and Stockholm. The tasting menu draws on new Nordic cuisine and classical technique, with sustainability and seasonality guiding each course. The produce is chosen to celebrate what Northern California grows through the year. The tasting menu is priced at $315. Vegetarian and pescatarian guests are welcome with advance notice, though fully plant-based or allergen-free menus are not offered.
Wine Spectator gave the wine list its Best of Award of Excellence in 2024. Beverage director David Kolvek and sommelier Frida Blomdahl Hay choose bottles for their sense of place and how well they suit the menu, with a mix of classic and New World selections. Guests can order a wine pairing for $185, a reserve pairing for $385, or an alcohol-free pairing for $145, or choose wines by the bottle or glass.
The dining room wraps around a lively open kitchen, and the cooks are part of the evening's rhythm. Smaller parties can dine in the main room or in the private dining room, which seats up to six. Larger groups can book the entire restaurant for a private event of seven to sixteen guests.
