The story
The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil serves Provençal and Californian cooking at 180 Rutherford Hill, Rutherford, California 94573, in the Napa Valley outside Saint Helena. The restaurant earned one Michelin star in 2026 and a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating the same year.
Forbes Travel Guide credits chef Robert Curry with the cooking, which draws on local ingredients from the property's hillside setting. The restaurant was founded by French-born restaurateur Claude Rouas, and the French influence shows in the Provençal approach to the plates.
The restaurant sits on a 33-acre olive grove, and the outdoor terrace looks across neighboring vineyards. Guests who prefer something quieter can book the smaller dining room. The wine list draws on the hotel's cellar of about 15,000 bottles.
