The story
Press Restaurant at 587 St. Helena Highway in Saint Helena serves modern American cooking, and it earned one Michelin star in 2026. The kitchen works with Napa Valley produce and Bay Area purveyors, and the wine program sits at the center of the room.
Chef Philip Tessier leads the kitchen as Chef Partner. His résumé includes Le Bernardin, Per Se and The French Laundry, and he won a silver medal at the Bocuse d'Or as the first American chef to reach that podium. The restaurant is moving from a classic steakhouse focus toward a refined American cuisine, with Vincenzo Loseto as Chef de Cuisine.
The current tasting menu has included wild king salmon with nasturtium and fermented plum, and ricotta gnudi with squash blossoms in a parmigiano consommé. Black truffle-glazed chicken with Nueske bacon and a 21-day tomahawk for two also appear on the menu. Desserts have included smoked yogurt panna cotta with blood orange and coconut crémeux with passion fruit. The lounge menu offers a lobster roll and oysters on the half shell.
The restaurant received a Wine Spectator Grand Award in 2022, and it says its cellar holds 10,000 bottles, which it describes as the largest Napa Valley collection in the world. Guests can dine indoors or on the patio, and the space is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible.
