The story
Vetri Cucina, at 1312 Spruce St. in Philadelphia, is an Italian restaurant that Michelin lists as Recommended for 2026. Chef Marc Vetri opened the restaurant in September 1998, and its menus still rest on handmade pasta and seasonal Italian ingredients.
Marc Vetri, a Philadelphia native, opened the restaurant with his business partner, Jeff Benjamin, after years in Italian kitchens. The restaurant's own story describes rustic fare, handcrafted pastas and artful presentations. Jacob Rozenberg, the chef de cuisine, joined the kitchen in 2015 and became CDC in 2020.
Vetri Cucina serves no à la carte dishes. The Quattro Piatti tasting menu costs $165 per person and offers a choice within each course: antipasti, pasta, secondi and dessert. The seasonal Forchetta menu is a chef-selected tasting at $215 per person. Every guest starts with an amuse-bouche and a cocktail, such as a seasonal spritz or a glass of prosecco.
The optional wine pairing, chosen by the wine director, costs $115 per person with the Quattro Piatti. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant its Best of Award of Excellence in 2018. The dining room seats 32 in a historic townhome. Hand-blown Murano glass chandeliers hang over Richard Ginori porcelain and Venetian glassware.
