The story

Sistina in New York City: Italian Dining on East 81st Street

Sistina is an Italian restaurant at 24 E 81st St in New York City, recognized with the Wine Spectator Grand Award in 2018. It occupies a townhouse on the Upper East Side, between Madison and Fifth Avenues.

Chef and cooking style

Giuseppe Bruno, owner, executive chef and sommelier, cooks fresh comfort food drawn from his Salerno family roots in Southern Italy. He goes to the market every day for fish, meat and vegetables from local farmers. The restaurant spent 33 years on Second Avenue before moving to its current home.

Wine and rooms

The wine list opens with a long Champagne section, including Krug and Dom Pérignon. Gambero Rosso awarded the kitchen three forks in 2026. A lounge on the second floor and private event rooms round out the space.
