The story
Masseria dei Vini serves Italian food at 887 9th Ave in New York City, and Wine Spectator gave it a Best of Award of Excellence in 2017. The menu draws on Southern Italian cooking, from Neapolitan pizza to pasta made in house.
Executive chef Pino Coladonato grew up on a farm in Puglia, where beans were often the only ingredient available. Fava beans, chickpeas and lentils still anchor many of his main courses. He cooked for 14 years at Sette Mezzo, where he met the co-owners Peppe and Enzo.
The squid ink spaghetti comes with fresh baby clams, garlic and white wine. Pizzas are cooked in the traditional Neapolitan way, with ingredients imported from Italy under DOP marks. Among the meat dishes, a grilled aged prime ribeye steak sits on the menu alongside veal and chicken. Gambero Rosso awarded the restaurant one fork in 2026.
