The story
Loring Place is an American restaurant at 21 W. 8th St. in New York City's Greenwich Village, cooking seasonal dishes around local produce. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended (2026), and the We're Smart Green Guide awarded it 3 Radishes in 2026.
Chef Dan Kluger built the menu around the Union Square Greenmarket, where he has shopped for more than 20 years. Plates are designed for sharing, from vegetable-forward small plates to locally caught seafood and meat from nearby farms. Kluger previously led the kitchens at ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina.
Much of the cooking happens over open flame, using a wood-burning grill and a wood-fired oven. The grandma-style pan pizza, baked ricotta with pistachio-ramp pesto, and roasted short rib all come out of that kitchen. Desserts stay traditional, with cookies served warm, sundaes, and brown butter pear cake.
