The story
Cosme is a contemporary Mexican restaurant at 35 East 21st Street in New York City's Flatiron District, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The kitchen has also appeared on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list, most recently at number 22 in 2021.
Enrique Olvera founded Cosme and gives the kitchen its direction. The food draws on Mexican flavors and traditions while working with local and seasonal ingredients. Gustavo Garnica is listed as cuisine chef, and Eva Ramirez leads the pastry program.
The Maine uni tostada comes with salsa mexicana, bone marrow and avocado. A fingerling potato tamal arrives with Swiss chard and aged New York cheddar. The mole de la casa is served with garnet sweet potato and savoy spinach, and the Pekin duck carnitas, meant for sharing, comes with radishes, onion and cilantro.
The beverage program focuses on artisanal spirits and Mexican inspiration. Cocktails include the Tlāloc Old Fashioned and a Paloma, and a Seedlip-based list covers guests who skip alcohol, including a corn colada. Desserts include chocolate mousse cake, corn husk meringue, pecan tamal and concord grape sorbet.
The private room sits toward the back of the restaurant as a separate space and seats up to 14 guests. Larger groups can book a family-style set menu. Guests can choose drinks from the full list or one of two beverage packages.
