The story
COQODAQ, at 12 E. 22nd St., New York, is a Korean kitchen built around fried chicken, and the Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality, good value cooking. The menu sits between American and Korean cooking, with brunch and dinner service and a full bar program.
Executive Chef SK Kim leads the kitchen. The restaurant calls its approach Better Fried Chicken, and the bird comes either Original or glazed in soy sauce garlic or gochujang. Each glaze gives the same chicken a different character, so the choice matters.
The Bucket List is the signature feast, priced at 52 per person. It opens with a pasture-raised chicken consommé, moves through ban chan and two courses of chicken, and ends with cold perilla seed noodles and soft serve frozen yogurt. The Golden Nugget bites can be topped with ocean trout roe, Golden Daurenki caviar, or seasonal truffle. The raw bar serves oysters with sea urchin or Kaluga caviar.
Champagne is the house pairing. The bubbles cut through the richness of the chicken and clear the palate between bites. Wine Spectator gave the list its Best of Award of Excellence in 2024. Glasses range from $27 to $100, and a Gaston Chiquet bottling made for COQODAQ, selected by Victoria James and Simon Kim, is also on the list.
